Best Selling Rain Barrel Kits
At the Rain Barrel Depot, one of our biggest sellers are rain barrel kits. A rain barrel kit is a fantastic way to get started conserving water because it allows anybody to use almost any plastic container with a lid and convert it into a rain barrel. The possibilities are endless! In designing our rain barrel kits we have included all the parts, even the installation tools, and eliminated the return trips to the hardware store. All you will need is a ruler, level, and drill.
Building a rain barrel with one of our rain barrel kits should take no more than twenty minutes including installation! Even better is the fact that it is less expensive to ship a rain barrel kit in a 12”x 12” x 4” box than to ship a rain barrel. You will begin saving money on shipping costs and water at the same time!
The container possibilities are endless to use for your barrel. These can include saving a repurposed plastic drum headed to the landfill, a 55-gallon food grade drum or even a new trashcan from your local home improvement store . If you want to store as much water as possible consider a 275-gallon IBC container that held food grade liquids. With a quality rain barrel kit you are only limited by the size of your plastic container!
The best feature about all of the rain barrel kits we sell at The Rain Barrel Depot is that they all feature a flexi-fit diverter that taps directly into the downspout eliminating the need to cut your downspouts, which is a real headache. The flexi-fit diverter keeps the water in your barrel at a consistent level and also eliminates the need for an overflow hose. One last benefit of our rain barrel kits is that because we did not have to cut the downspouts, there is no water pooling on top of your barrel providing a place for mosquitoes and debris to collect.

This rain barrel kit (link back to our site diykit) is the “granddaddy of all rain barrel kits. At $36.95, it is slightly more expensive than the RainRecycle Rain Barrel kit, with a few more parts. This kit includes the spigot, connection hose and bulkhead connector for the barrel, the flexi-fit diverter that taps directly into your downspout, as well as the hole saws necessary to install the rain barrel. The kit includes several additional parts including a winter hole cover and drain. The winter hole cover allows you to store your rain barrel inside during the freezing winter temperatures. Simply disconnect your rain barrel, store it and place the winter hole cover on the downspout hole. The drain is useful in draining the water of the barrel or perhaps connecting it to a soaker hose.

Do you have round downspouts or do you ever see them on houses? Curved down spouts are very popular on older homes as well as newer constructed homes. As a matter of fact, almost the entire city of Philadelphia has curved downspouts. However, a regular square diverter will not capture water in a round downspout. Therefore, creating the need for a round flexi-fit diverter. The RainRecycle Rain Barrel Kit for round downspouts includes the spigot, connection hose and bulkhead connector for the barrel, a round flexi-fit diverter, and the hole saws. The RainRecycle Rain Barrel Kit for Curved Downspouts is priced at $34.95.
